Principal's Message

My name is Shane Riddle, and I am honored to serve as the Principal of Caroldale Learning Community STEAM Academy. This is my 25th year with LAUSD, including eight years at Carson High School as a math teacher and assistant principal, and I remain deeply committed to serving the Carson community.
One of the unique strengths of Caroldale is that we are a K–8 span school. This model allows us to provide a continuous, supportive educational experience where students can build strong, lasting relationships with peers and staff. It fosters a close-knit community, eases key academic transitions, and creates a safe, stable learning environment where students grow both academically and socially over time.
Our students are provided with rich opportunities to thrive academically through a rigorous and engaging STEAM-focused curriculum. We are committed to developing the whole child, offering not only strong academic instruction but also a wide array of enrichment and elective programs designed to inspire creativity, critical thinking, and collaboration. We are proud to feature a dedicated STEAM Lab, equipped with cutting-edge technology such as 3D printers, Lego Robotics and Sphero Blueprints where students engage in hands-on science and engineering lessons. All elementary students participate in weekly hands-on lessons in the lab, while middle school students have the opportunity to serve as lab assistants for younger classes or select a STEAM Lab elective. These experiences foster curiosity, problem-solving, and leadership skills, preparing students to thrive in an ever-changing world.
As Principal, my mission is simple: to ensure every student has the tools to become a successful, forward-thinking lifelong learner ready to excel in the careers of tomorrow. Together with our dedicated staff and supportive families, I know we can continue to provide an outstanding educational experience for all students.
